Protecting the Fosse Way Bridge

This Packhorse bridge is on the historic Fosse Way, built during the first and second centuries, linking Exeter in the south-west to Lincoln in the north-east.

The Bridge has now had a transformation thanks to Wiltshire Council, Gloucester County Council, Long Newton Parish Council and support from Brokenborough Parish Council.
The work was undertaken to protect the Grade II listed bridge that crosses the watercourse next to the ford. Large natural stone boulders have been installed to improve the management of vehicles through the ford crossing and deter illegal activity by 4×4 vehicles.
